Week/Lessson1

I have been a lifelong learner before the term was created and have encouraged others in their own explorations and experiences as a librarian for many years.

My family is a life long learning family. My mother learned how to cook after getting married, learned how to wallpaper, upholster furniture, cane chair seats and refinish furniture. I learned how to bake, cook, wash clothes, can and sew in the 1950-70s. After getting sewing lessons from my sister as a present, my first project was to make an opera cloak - black with red lining. I made it during spring break in 1973, little knowing that my choice of 18th century outerwear, would be mistaken for a movie phenomena which opened a few years later.

Lesson/Week 2

When it comes to 7 1/2 Habits - my hardest ones are #4 and #7, when I run into a problem I cannot solve, I table the goal until I learn what I need to know in order to complete it. Sometimes that takes a long time. Along with my diverse interests, it sometimes difficult to find someone exploring in the same areas to teach or mentor. But I watch for opportunities to share what I learned or discovered. Even if my children do not want to learn how to do drywall, their grandmother taught them to paint. I think #7 1/2 is the easiest because my interests are so diverse, I am constantly playing. The Internet and access to World Cat and the Web has opened up a greater world to explore and discover.

Lesson/Week #3

I set up my blog after finalizing a gmail account. Last week's efforts had to be repeated when something prevented my new password from accessing my blog, so I started over. Now I will be able to contact Google about their online books which have blurred pages or fingers appearing on the page.
